Frequently Asked Questions

rental process and billing

  • To rent a powerbank, simply tap or insert your debit or credit card on the payment processor. A powerbank will pop out and you can begin charging.

  • All stations are outfitted with Stripe card readers; enabling swipe/insert and contactless payment options such as Apple/Google pay. If you’re unsure if your particular card is compatible with Stripe, contact your bank or visit Stripe’s website. It may be due to your geographical location or your bank’s restrictions.

  • Each individual station displays the charging rate on the screen and is set by the owner of the station. *If you are a business owner wanting to know suggested pricing, please fill out our contact form and we will get back to you!

The maximum billable time is 2hrs, so you will never be charged more than the billable rate at 2hrs (unless the battery is not returned, then you will pay the pre-authorization amount.

  • To verify your payment method and that you have the funds in your account to cover a lost/broken battery, we place a pre-authorization hold on your card at the start of the rental. This is not a charge, and will disappear within 0-5 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. It will however become a final charge for you if the battery is not returned within the grace period (usually 48 hours after the rental period begins).

If you believe you returned the battery in working condition and the charge became final (no longer shows as pending), please contact us at billing@inchargerental.com

  • Simple, time starts when the battery pops out and stops when the battery is fully inserted back into the station.

Each station gives 2 free minutes to ensure that the battery works as intended, and to return it without being charged.

Billing is for an entire block of time, no matter if you use the battery for the whole block of time or not.

For example: If the rate is charged for 30min of time, you will pay the full rate even if you only use it for 15min. Once the 30min is up, you will be billed for another 30min if the battery is not inserted prior to the 30min ending.

  • A declined payment could happen for a few reasons.

    1. Your account does not have sufficient funds to cover the pre-authorization charge of $35.

    2. Your card/payment type is not accepted by Stripe.

    3. The batteries dispense when they themselves are charged to 80%. If you believe reasons 1 and 2 do not apply to you, it may be that all the batteries had recently been used and are charging back up to ensure the next user can charge their device without the battery dying.

If you still believe there’s an issue, please contact us at support@inchargerental.com

  • You will be billed for a maximum of 2hrs but will not be penalized or continually billed if you accidentally take it home.

Return the battery within the grace period of 48 hours to avoid a $35 charge for the battery.
